Winter has always been my favorite season — even growing up in Maryland, where there was rarely snow — but when it did come, we might have no school for days on end, and then kids and sleds took over the roads — snowball fights and forts and snow people everywhere — excitement and exhileration – the pure fun of it all was unequalled — and today, so many years later, the spirit of the long-ago snow days returned!
I am fortunate enough to be living in the woods of Vermont, and last weekend we received almost a foot of snow overnight and decided to ski the driveway! Floating down the hill — literally laughing all the way — goofing about — hiking for turns and then back inside for home-cooked real oatmeal – this is what life is – or at least should be – about: more pure joy and fun! Let it snow!

I remember coming in from the snow to the warm house and eating spaghetti o’s and ovaltine. I guess I’ve really changed since then but such fond memories.
